The 'Little' Black Dress

Dearies,

Classic Audrey Hepburn

The little black dress or LBD is the ultimate staple in any girl's closet. It can take you from day to night, accesorize it with absolutely anything and pair it with any colour and you are good to go.

Well today I am going to share with you on the Muslimah take on the LBD ;)

Firstly our version of LBD is not so little coz its got to be a little loose and flowy but not so huge that you look like you are wearing a tent! And we can pair it with jeans!! Not so skinny, slim or straight pants or flare ones. If you have a sleeveless LBD as what is mostly available out there, well you can always wear it with a thin plain long sleeve top underneath (black or different colour to contrast such as Red) OR you can put on a blazer, cardigan or shrug over it. Try to opt for breatheable cotton material or at least 70% cotton if you are living in a hotter climate country. And yes! there are blazers out there made from 100% cotton :D though I've yet to find a good quality 100% cotton cardigan that won't make you look frumpy ;)

Long sleeve black dress, gathered cuff and turtle neck from Dorothy Perkins

*Tip: Gathered cuff is perfect for Muslimah coz it is easy for you to slide over your elbow when you take wudhu and also the wide turtle neck provides coverage when your scarf is thin and transparent :)

Accent with leather belt from Zara

Dark blue blazer from Zara, sky blue and yellow scarf, leather belt (optional)

*Tip: when wearing an all dark plain ensemble, choose a lighter coloured pattern scarf.
Dark ensemble always has a slimming effect and the scarf will pull the attention away from the top
(sorry cant really see the dark blue blazer due to poor lighting)

Light blue pin stripe blazer from zara and candy colour shawl. It certainly looks fresh and fun!

I wore the first ensemble when I went shopping the other day, Big tip! reason being when you dont have the patience or time to take out your clothes to try on another, just wear whatever tops you are getting over it and helps you to save the hassle of going to the fitting room and also you get to try the sleeveless tops with something underneath as how you are going to wear it anyway, normally.

Tata for now and Happy Shopping for that perfect LBD ----- Muslimah version! :D

  1. Hey, I have the same blue pins striped blazer! Yup, it certainly is one which can carry you from Winter to Summer. I have been commented on how smart it looks even with plain old jeans and white shirt.

Don't all of us love the LBD.
